to the Portland Chamber Orchestra's 59th season, and what a spectacular musical
menu it is! Planning a season is a fascinating process of great fun and challenge
with ingredients of balance, variety of musical form, temperaments, styles
& nationalities contributing their unique flavors to the musical banquet.
This feast is deliciously rich with gorgeous music spiced with unifying thematic
ideas that will appeal to diverse tastes.

In
his triptych, "Il Tritico," inspired by three famous paintings
of Botticelli, - Primavera, The Birth of Venus, and the Adoration of the Magi
- composer Ottorino Respighi celebrates Renaissance art, a facet of his Italian
heritage he deeply revered. The PCO performance of this evocative composition
will combine music with a visual display of the Botticelli paintings.
