
Andy Liang - Violinist
Andy Liang is currently enrolled as a 10th grader at Columbia River High School in Vancouver, Washington. He began studying violin at the age of 5½ years old and has played chamber music at the Civic Music Center with Mrs. Chara Epp, and for the past seven years played with the Portland Youth Philharmonic where he is currently the concertmaster for the second year. His teachers include Carole Sindall, Cara Epp, his father, and Kathryn Gray.
During the past four years he has received honors and won competitions from the following groups: First Place in the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition; Young Artist at the Schnitz Concerto competition; KBPS 89.9 Young Talent Search Winner; Beaux Arts Society Awards program Scholarship; First Place in the Mittleman Jewish Community Young Artist concerto competition; Oregon State MTNA Junior String Competition; Northwest Regional MTNA Junior String Competition; National MTNA Junior String Competition finalist; Portland Youth Philharmonic Soloist; Chamber Music Northwest Young Artist Fellow.
He has played as the soloist with the Clark College Orchestra and three times with the Oregon Symphony and has performed for the "From the Top" radio program. He attended the Kennedy Center's National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute during the past two summers.His other interests include soccer, basketball, track, video games, hanging out with friends.
