The Mozart Festival was the first collaboration between the Portland Chamber Orchestra and the Portland Symphonic Choir

The Mozart festival, joint concert at 8:30 pm tomorrow of the Porland Symphonic choir and the Portland Chamber orchestra, will be the city's largest tribute to Mozart on the bicentennial of his birth. Conductors C. Robert Zimmerman and Boris Sirpo of the choir and orchestra, respectively, have programmed an all-Mozart evening.

The celebration is a civic one, with Mayor Fred L. Peterson having proclaimed Monday as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart day, and all musicians participating being from the Portland area.

FOUR OF the city's leading singers, Dean Lieber, Bonnie Newburgh, Elliott Savage and Eileen Preston, will appear with the choir and orchestra in presenting the "Requiem." Clair Hodgkins, violinist, will play Mozart's concerto No. 4 with the orchestra.

Portland will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with an all-Portland concert of the composer's works at the public auditorium Monday at 8:30 p.m. The Festival will be presented by the Portland Chamber orchestra and the Portland Symphonic choir in joint concert under direction of Boris Sirpo and C. Robert Zimmerman, respectively.

Four leading singers, all Portland, will rend the solo and quartet numbers in the Requiem, and Clair Hodgkins, violinist, will play Mozart's concert No. 4 with the orchestra. Dean Leiber, Bonnie Newburgh, Eileen Preston and Elliot Savage comprise the quartet.

Among the 200 musicians and singers to appear Monday night at the Mozart Festival in the public auditorium, are many members of the "little Chamber Orchestra.: which toured Europe on a goodwill mission last summer. Most of these young women play in the larger Portland Chamber orchestra during the winter.

Concert mistress is Claire Hodgkins, well known Portland violinist, who will be soloist in Mozart's Concerto No. 4.

The concerrt, offered jointly by the orchestra and the Portland Symphonic choir, will be conducted by C. Robert Zimmerman and Boris Sirpo.
