Tobias Andersen previously collaborated with Portland Chamber Orchestra as director of A Midsummer Night's Dream for "Puck's Pranks" and as performer in Egmont--Beethoven Unlimited. Mr. Andersen is the Artistic Director of the Mt. Hood Repertory Theatre Company, which has just completed its 12th season and where he has directed the MHRTC productions of Bus Stop, You Can't Take It With You, Born Yesterday, Huckleberry Finn, A Thurber Carnival and Lend Me A Tenor and appeared as The Stage Manager in Our Town, Drummond in Inherit The Wind, Walter Burns in The Front Page and Norman in On Golden Pond.

Portland appearances have included Henry in the world premiere of Sometimes A Great Notion, Mr. Gardiner in Pride and Prejudice (Portland Center Stage), George Pye in Humble Boy, Alexander in Vanya, (with William Hurt--ART), Higgins in My Fair Lady (The Musical Company), Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and Atticus in To Kill A Mockingbird (Northwest Children's Theatre), C. S Lewis in Shadowlands (Portland Repertory), Prospero in The Tempest (Tygres Heart), Charlie in Seascape and Jim in Tales of the Lost Formicans (Drammy Award-Profile Theatre Project).

A veteran of regional theatre, he has been resident artist with such noted companies as Oregon Shakespeare Festival, California Shakespeare Festival, Milwaukee Repertory, Playmaker's Repertory of Chapel Hill and Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts.

Mr. Andersen's critically acclaimed portrayal of famed American jurist Clarence Darrow in the solo play Darrow has been seen throughout the US and in 1997 was selected by the US Information Agency to represent the United States at the 2nd International Drama Festival in Lahore, Pakistan and later performed in the capitol city of Islamabad before members of the Pakistani Government and Supreme Court.

During his extensive career in Los Angeles, he created the role of Fire Captain Beatty in the first production of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, which resulted in a long time friendship with the eminent author. This association resulted in two subsequent productions of Fahrenheit 451, the last produced by Mt. Hood Repertory in conjunction with Multnomah County Library Foundation's "Everybody Reads" program. In 2007, for Clackamas Repertory, he starred in The Illustrated Man, a new solo show adapted for Tobias by Mr. Bradbury. Following its East County engagement, The Illustrated Man traveled to The Rubicon Theatre in Ventura, California, where it was featured in an all-Bradbury festival, attended by the author

In his Hollywood years, Tobias was a featured actor on such classic TV shows as Roseanne, Newhart, Knot's Landing, Little House on the Prairie and Bonanza. His films include Destroyer with Anthony Perkins, Take My Advice with Wendy Malick and the recent Feast of Love with Morgan Freeman.
