Happy Birthday Wolfgang! - June 9, 10 and 11, 2006

The PCO's June 9, 10 & 11 "Happy Birthday Wolfgang!" is an all Mozart weekend marathon commemorating the 250th anniversary of the composer's birth. The season's grand finale pays homage to the world's most remarkable musical wunderkind with three days of master classes, seminars and concerts by the PCO and guest ensembles. An early symphony Mozart composed when he was nine years old, the K. 19 in D major, a violin concerto composed at the age of nineteen, and a work from the mature years of his thirties, the great Symphony K.550 in g minor celebrate his astonishing genius. We welcome renowned violinist Mark Peskanov as featured soloist both in the elegant Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major and for a benefit recital of Mozart's chamber music with members of the Portland Chamber Orchestra.

Children and parents are welcome to attend "For Free" the Saturday morning Dress Rehearsal at 10 am. And, as always, children under 12 are admitted free to the regular performances.
